Considering One Another Sometimes it is possible to be so consumed with what you want to do without considering your spouse or even caring about how he/she will feel. Whenever you do things without considering your spouse you are likely to be wrong. Love considers others. It is probably easier to do things on your own, but the moment you are married you've lost the right to do things based how just you alone want it, you are called to be sensitive to the needs of your spouse. You will often be tempted to focus attention on yourself and others to the neglect of your spouse. The wisdom of God teaches you to regard your spouse as better and superior to yourself and others in your decisions. You can start caring with your thoughts, then your words and then your actions. You must learn to honour the choices of your spouse even if you do not appreciate such choices, as you carefully watch and protect the interest of your spouse you show them how important they are to you. Cultivating a lifestyle of considering your spouse's feelings can change your marriage for good. A lot of married people complain about how their spouse seem to take more interest in others, outside their relationship, than in them. When this happens it tends to affect the self-esteem of one of the partners and makes them feel used, eventually they might stop giving their best into the marriage. Speak to your spouse, ask him/her about things you can do to make them feel more cared for and tell your spouse what you want to see happen that would make you feel really important also. |
